How to Create Shorts Using Your Own Likeness?
Currently, the "Likeness" feature is being integrated into the YouTube Create app and the Shorts Camera under a new experimental suite.
1. Enrollment & Verification
Before you can generate a "clone," YouTube requires a strict verification process to prevent deepfakes and misuse.
Identity Check: You must be part of the YouTube Partner Program (YPP).
Biometric Reference: You will need to record a short "reference video" (similar to FaceID) within the YouTube Studio or Create app. This data is used only for your private model and is not used to train Google’s public AI.
2. Accessing the AI Likeness Tool
Once verified, you can access the tool in two ways:
YouTube Create App: Open the app, tap the "Generate" banner, and select "My Likeness."
Shorts Camera: Tap the "Dream Screen" icon (sparkle effect) and look for the "Use My Likeness" toggle.
3. Prompting Your AI Clone
Instead of filming, you describe the scene. Your AI likeness will appear in the video performing the actions you describe.
Example Prompt: "Me standing on a beach in Phuket, waving at the camera with a sunset background."
Customization: You can select specific "Moods" (energetic, professional, calm) to ensure the AI's body language matches your brand.
4. Review and Labeling
Safety Check: YouTube's system will scan the generated clip to ensure it meets community guidelines.
Disclosure: YouTube automatically adds an "Altered Content" label to these videos to maintain transparency with your audience.
